TYPE 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults.It was previously known as juvenile diabetes. This type of diabetes is characterized by the loss of the insulin-producing pancreatic islets of langerhans which results in deficiency of the hormone insulin.In the type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin.
