signs of type 2 diabetes

Signs of type 2 diabetes or Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes

As you know Type 2 diabetes happens when your body doesn’t make enough insulin or you don’t respond normally to the insulin your body makes. When this happens, sugar (glucose) builds up in the blood. High blood sugar can raise your risk of complications of diabetes such as heart disease, kidney disease, or blindness.

If glucose can’t be absorbed by the cells, it builds up in the bloodstream instead, and high blood sugar is the result.

The symptoms of type 2 diabetes due to high blood sugar may include:

  • Increased thirst
  • Increased hunger (especially after eating)
  • Dry mouth
  • Frequent urination
  • Unexplained weight loss (even though you are eating and feel hungry)
  • Fatigue (weak, tired feeling)
  • Blurred vision
  • Headaches
  • Loss of consciousness (rare)

You can also see following symptoms of type 2 diabetes

  • Slow-healing sores or cuts
  • Itching of the skin (usually around the vaginal or groin area)
  • Frequent yeast infections
  • Recent weight gain
  • Velvety dark skin changes of the neck, armpit, and groin, called acanthosis nigricans
  • Numbness and tingling of the hands and feet
  • Decreased vision
  • Impotency

What is Type 2 diabetes

Overview of diabetes please have a look.

Type 2 diabetes happens when your body doesn’t make enough insulin or you don’t respond normally to the insulin your body makes.

The pancreas keeps increasing insulin production in an effort to keep up with rising blood sugar levels, and high circulating levels of insulin (known as hyperinsulinemia) develop. Hyperinsulinemia increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and other health problems.

When type 2 diabetes is diagnosed, the pancreas is usually producing enough insulin, but for unknown reasons the body cannot use the insulin effectively, a condition called insulin resistance. After several years, insulin production decreases. The result is the same as for type 1 diabetes—glucose builds up in the blood and the body cannot make efficient use of its main source of fuel.

The symptoms of type 2 diabetes develop gradually. Their onset is not as sudden as in type 1 diabetes. Symptoms may include fatigue, frequent urination, increased thirst and hunger, weight loss, blurred vision, and slow healing of wounds or sores. Some people have no symptoms
